How My Old Shitstorms Can Benefit You

Hey. I am Kelly.

I’ve been through some serious shit. And thankfully, every day I now wake up and am happy; I love life, I love the work I do.

But going through 3 divorces, burnout, chronic pain, major weight-gain, panic attacks, major anxiety, having to get a restraining order against a neighbor and taking care of a parent with Dementia will force you to learn some serious coping/reframing/happiness and peace inducing strategies. I am better for all those experiences and they got me to who I am today.

And now I want to share the tools I learned. So yes, let my shitstorm be of benefit to you. Take my tips and run!

Each blog post will be a tool I swear by that is backed by science.

Tool Number 1: I’m sharing a core belief of mine: that even the hard stuff in life is happening FOR US. So yeah, I think that can apply to most things, (I can’t allow death and tragedies in this category) and it’s been super helpful to me. I say it to myself often in the form of a question:

How is this happening FOR me? What good can come from this?

And then that is my viewpoint. I used it for my heartache, my fuck-ups, my neighbor drama, my stress at work, almost everything. And by looking for some good, I find it. It has helped me get through everything, because damn it; life is hard. It’s good, but it’s hard and our lens of looking at the world impacts our level of happiness.

  • So late to work? Maybe you missed an accident or heard something wonderful on the radio! And, it will be ok.

  • Took the wrong exit? Maybe you saw something you never would have seen otherwise. And it will all be ok.

  • Didn’t get the job you wanted? Maybe you got something better instead, or have learned something important in the process. It will be ok.

Try it and let me know what you think!
