Eating When Traveling

How to Stay Healthy - And Save Money

I’m traveling and eating out is lovely - but can be costly, and full of unknown, cheaper and not-so-good-for-you oils. I’m happier and feel better when I am eating whole, real foods (and not processed or fried ones.)

My solution: shop for meals at grocery stores whenever possible. I’ve been finding:

  • salads

  • pre-cut veggies

  • hummus

  • guacamole

  • olives

  • sliced meats

  • cheeses

  • cut-up fruit

  • yogurt

  • nuts

Last night we did the math - it would have been about $19EU for dinner at the local pub. We bought all the fixings for a great charcuterie board for about $5EU per person!

I even do this as best as I can at gas stations. I buy the nuts, an apple and a water. And sure, once in a while the chips, but by eating healthier mostly, I don’t feel guilty when I splurge.

Healthier and saving money? Yes please. Definitely makes for less stress and more happiness.

My haul, with snacks for the next day!
